VALE – Vernon Crabb (7883)

Sadly, Vern Crabb passed away on 11 Apri 2026 after a long battle with cancer.
Vern was a long time member of the HF Radio Club and spent many years on the road with his dear wife, Nell.
He didn’t rejoin the Club this year because he didn’t think he’d survive Christmas.
However, he battled on keeping active on the amateur radio nets until his passing.
Vern and Nell travelled Australia in their Motorhome, called the CRABBPOT.
He called into skeds every now and then. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and fellow travellers.
We wish his family and devoted wife of 52 years, Nell, our sincere condolences.

Vernon Crabb (VK4FVC) is now Silent Key. Vale Vern!.

To the Members of the HF Radio Club,

On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the HF Radio Club for the many years of friendship, fellowship, and purpose that you shared with our father, Barry Smith.
The club was an important part of his life, and he took great pride in being involved with such a dedicated and passionate community of radio enthusiasts.

In appreciation of the enjoyment and connection the club brought him over the years, we, Andrew and Christopher Smith, would like to kindly donate all of Dad’s radio equipment to the club.
We know that this contribution will be put to good use and that it will continue to support the spirit of learning, communication, and camaraderie that he so deeply valued.

We wish the HF Radio Club continued success and many more rewarding years ahead.

With warm regards and gratitude,
Andrew & Christopher Smith
